Why We Chose Australian Made.

Why We Chose Australian Made.

Why We Wanted Australian Made Plates

When we started Ruck Australia, we had a simple goal: build equipment we could be proud of.

That didn’t just mean creating a ruck plate that was strong, accurate and built to last. It meant creating something that represented the values we believe in supporting Australian industry, backing local families and helping preserve the manufacturing skills that have helped build this country.

From the very beginning we knew one thing and that was we wanted our ruck plates to be Australian made and we wouldn't settle for anything but.

More Than Just a Weight

To most people a ruck plate is simply something  that adds weight to a backpack.

To us it’s far more than that.

Every plate represents Australian workers, Australian businesses and generations of manufacturing knowledge. It’s a reminder that quality products don’t have to come from the other side of the world, they can be designed, manufactured and finished right here at home.

When you train with one of our plates you’re carrying a small piece of Australian industry on your back.

Supporting Australian Foundries

Our plates begin their journey at a family owned Australian foundry where multiple generations of the same family continue to work in the business today.

In an age where many manufacturing jobs have disappeared overseas, businesses like these continue to invest in Australian people, Australian apprentices and Australian manufacturing.

We’re proud to partner with a foundry that shares our values of quality, hard work and long term commitment.

These aren’t mass produced imports. They’re cast here in Australia by people who have dedicated their lives to mastering their craft.

Australian Materials

Our cast iron plates are produced using Australian iron ore along with numerous other raw materials required to create Australian Standard cast iron.

Australia has some of the richest iron ore deposits in the world and for generations our mining industry has supplied the raw materials that have helped build infrastructure across the globe.

We wanted to close the loop by ensuring those Australian resources became Australian made products.

Every plate starts with materials sourced from this country before being transformed through skilled Australian manufacturing into a product designed to last for well ever.

Supporting More Than One Local Business

The journey doesn’t stop once the casting is complete.

After leaving the foundry our plates are delivered to our local powder coating partner in our region. Here each plate receives its protective finish before making its way to our warehouse and eventually into the hands of our customers.

This means every plate supports multiple Australian businesses not just one.

From mining, to casting, to transport, to powder coating, to distribution, every step creates work for Australian companies and Australian families.

Why It Matters

Could we have sourced cheaper imported plates?

Absolutely.

But that was never the goal.

We wanted to build something we could stand behind, products that reflect our belief that Australian manufacturing is worth protecting.

Every purchase helps support skilled trades, manufacturing jobs, local transport companies and family owned businesses that continue to invest in Australia’s future.

A Symbol of Australian Industry

Australia was built by people who made things.

From steelworks and foundries to shipyards, mines and workshops, manufacturing has played an enormous role in shaping our country.

Our ruck plates are a small tribute to that legacy.

They’re more than training equipment.

They’re a symbol of Australian craftsmanship, resilience and hard work.

Every time you load one into your ruck you’re carrying more than weight.

You’re carrying a product born from Australian iron ore, shaped by Australian hands, finished by local businesses and built to honour the industries that helped build this country.

And that’s something we’re incredibly proud of.
